Prof. Dr. Erich Hübl was born in Petzenkirchen (Lower Austria) on September 9th 1930. He graduated in ecology, sociology and physiology of plants at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Vienna, and received his PhD at the University of Vienna on the topic of forest vegetation of the Leithagebirge (Lower Austria and Burgenland). Until his retirement he worked as a professor at the Department of Botany, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. He is engaged in the scientific work in the field of phytosociology, floristics and nature conservation, especially in phytosociology, phytogeography and ecology of meadow and forest vegetation and some time ago flora of medieval castles of Lower Austria (edited by Zoologisch-Botanische Gesellschaft Österreich). His latest project is a flora of the castles of Luxemburg. He has been a member of the Society since the foundation of the society. He organised the meeting in Vienna 1997 together with Prof. Zukrigl.

Prof. Dr. Kurt Zukrigl was born in Vienna on June, 28th 1931. Until his retirement he worked as a professor at the Department of Botany, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. He graduated at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna and received his PhD there on the topic of two virgin forests in the Lower Austrian Calcareous Alps. He is engaged in his scientific work in the field of forestry, phytosociology of forest communities as well as nature conservation. He organized the meeting in Vienna 1997 together with Prof. Hübl. He has been a member of the Society since the foundation of the society. He was a vice-president from 1986 to 1994 and from 2001 to 2005 and president from 1997 to 2001.

Prof. Ivo Trinajstić was born in Sisak, on October 27th, 1933. He graduated at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Zagreb, and received his PhD at the Faculty of Science on the topic of Vegetation of the island of Krk. Until his retirement he worked as a professor at the Faculty of Forestry, University of Zagreb. He was the editor of the Analytical flora of Yugoslavia edition. He is engaged in the scientific work in the field of Phytosociology, Floristics and Phytotaxonomy, especially in the research of flora and vegetation of the Mediterranean region. He has been a member of the Society since  1960. He was a vice-president from 1990 to 1994 and from 1997 to 2001 and president from 1994 to 1997.

Prof. Ljudevit Ilijanić was born on September 27th 1928, in Slapno near Ozalj. He graduated Biology at Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, where he received his PhD on the topic of Ecological and Phytocoenological researches of lowland meadows in Croatia. Until his retirement he worked as a professor at the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. He was chief editor of the journal Acta Botanica Croatica for 24 years. He is engaged in the scientific work in the field of Plant Ecology, Phytosociology and Floristics, especially in Ecology, Phytogeography and Phytosociology of grassland vegetation. He has been a member of the Society since  1960 and a vice-president from 1976 to 1990.
